Cell Project Space is pleased to announce Peng Zuqiang's debut publication Hindsights, in conjunction with his solo exhibition Sideways Looking. To mark the occasion the artist has invited friends and contributors; curator and writer, Alvin Li and artist, filmmaker, Sanaz Sohrabi to present live readings and conversation in the gallery's ground floor event space, directly drawing from the publication's contents.
 
Published by Cell Project Space, as an edition of 300 copies, Hindsights features contributions by Ren Yue, Shaonan Xi and Alvin Li, interspersed with notes, quotes, stills and outtakes collected by Peng Zuqiang. It continues Cell’s ongoing publishing activity supporting artistic experimentation that highlights material, formal and the affective potential of the artist book format.
 
The exhibition will stay open to view before and after the event.
 
Alvin Li is a curator and writer based in Shanghai. He currently serves as Adjunct Curator, Greater China, supported by the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation, at Tate Gallery, London.
 
Sanaz Sohrabi is a research-based artist and filmmaker, currently a doctoral candidate at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture at Concordia University, Montréal. Her recent screenings and exhibitions include International Film Festival Rotterdam, Iran Cinéma Vérité Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, IndieLisboa, Valdivia International Film Festival Chile, and SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin.
 
Peng Zuqiang makes moving images. His recent exhibitions and screenings include Times Art Center Berlin, Antenna-tenna, Antimatter, IDFA, UCCA Beijing, Open City Documentary Festival, and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
