CYcLE CLUB 2011-2012
CYcLE CLUB is offering students, recent graduates, artists and researchers within the field of the visual arts an opportunity to put forward and explore ideas which will formulate an adjunct programme of events in Cell Project Space, whilst gaining a unique work experience at the same time. The CYcLE CLUB acknowledges that contemporary art crosses disciplinary boundaries, using a great diversity of media and materials, and is open to various interpretations. Complimenting the gallery’s CYcLORAMA programme of solo projects, the CLUB will host a series of supportive events, which are driven by an expansion of the moving image. CYcLE CLUB aim to draw new audiences and practitioners to respond and interrogate urgent themes that arise throughout the programme, manifesting themselves into a variety of forms. i.e: educational, musical, performative, and communal.
As a member of the CYcLE CLUB you will be involved in the formulation and realization of projects, demonstrating a strong commitment to developing a relationship with Cell Project Space and the gallery programme. This will involve all aspects of exhibition presentation in the gallery and beyond. Additionally members will be trained in representing the gallery’s front of house and its public image.
Rather than offering a short-term period of involvement with the gallery, Cell Project Space only offer a long-term relationship with its members proving to be a more productive and valuable work placement for both sides. CYcLE CLUB accepts applicants for a minimum of 3-6 months, and expect members to commit to working at the gallery for 3 hours per week. This enables members to simultaneously pursue other projects, gain employment or fit the CYcLE CLUB schedule around their studies. During installation periods at the gallery there would be an expectation for members to increase their hours and days of work to gain valuable professional practice. Allocated hours and time-schedules are negotiated between members and the gallery staff in advance.
